I can. My body is still an egg, but my mind is strong. I have been dreaming for millions of years.

That's impressive, being able to affect others in such a way even when you're asleep. It's almost like a kind of... astral projection.

Astral projection is an apt comparison. At least in my case, since I know I am dreaming. Most of my family have shorter dreams that forget our natures.

You mean that they forget who they are? What happens then?

They live a mortal life until they wake up, they realize they're dreaming, or that body is killed. They can go through a lot of dreams like that.

That must be jarring for them, to realize their existence is a dream in one. And that they aren't mortal. I can't imagine it's an easy adjustment for your siblings.

It can be difficult for the dream... But my siblings do not talk about their old dreams much anymore. Some have forgotten them entirely.

Maybe that's for the best. I don't think I'd be able to handle it very gracefully if the same happened to me.

I like my shallow way of dreaming better… but they were used to it. The dragons I rule over are the descendants of those dreams.

This might seem like a silly question, but are there many... humans in your world?

[eggstinction]

Humans? Yes. Most of them live inland, but I have many human citizens in my territories too.

Do they live in harmony with you and your siblings? Even though you’re clearly so much more powerful than them?

[eggstinction]

Oh, humankind does not what I am. And except for my brother, my siblings are out in orbit.

Burrowed within... other planets?

My brother in Mars and my sister in Venus already hatched. Some were in the other moons, but mostly it is my sisters left now. They play in the asteroid belt or in Saturn's rings. Others orbit with the comets.

A shame indeed. But if you see a shooting star, you can imagine it one of my sisters flying by. The largest look almost the same!

If I ever return to to Earth properly, then I'll try to remember that. It's been a long time since I've seen the night sky until this place.

If we escape this prison, and I return to the point in time where I had been stolen from… It’s a long story, but the gist of it is pretty simple: I’m stranded in another dimension.

That is difficult… Is this a better place to be trapped, at least? There are some people who have joined Echidna so they do not get sent back to their original worlds.

Does being on Echidna guarantee that?

[Huh.]

Being here is nicer. But I would still like to return; I was looking for a way to cross planes back to my original one. And I think I can manage it, with just a little more time.

But I wish you luck returning to your own plane. With all the travel we have seen here, it certainly must be possible.
